This year, Owen Sound Museums Heritage Days will be held in conjunction with Tugfest - What an event this will be!

Thursday, July 22nd   7:00 pm
  • The Downtown Bookstore: Author Paul Carroll will be launching his new book entitled "The Wexford" at 7:00 pm at the Downtown Bookstore, 945 2nd Avenue East, Owen Sound.  Meet and Greet the Author over coffee and dessert and listen to some of the tales from the sinking of this ship in 1913 off the port of Goderich. 
Friday, July 23rd   12 to 5 pm
  • Georgian College: Marine Simulator Tours  12:00 to 5:00 pm (Admission by donation)
Friday, July 23rd   6 to 9 pm

Admission By Donation - suggested Adults $5, children $2.  With your admission of $5 or $2 on Friday, you will get your wrist band for admission to all events on Saturday!

  • Live Music and Entertainment at the Marine & Rail Museum under the Big Tent - Refreshments and snacks on sale
    • 6:00 pm Opening Ceremonies
    • 6:15 pm Owen Sound Celtic Dance Company
    • 7:00 pm Beckon
    • 8:00 pm Scatter the Cats
  • Tugboat Light Parade at Dusk
See what your admission gets you on Saturday, July 24th from 10 am to 4 pm!

Admission is $5 per adult (14+) and $2 per child (3 to 13).  This will get you a wrist band which is required for access to: Billy Bishop Home and Museum site which includes Kids' Corner and the Children's Entertainment Tent; Interpretive Heritage Bus Tours; and the Marine & Rail Museum.  Along with all this, you will receive a chance to win a Centro Stainless Steel BBQ and propane tank valued over $300 (Adult) or one of four children's prizes (Child).

Marine & Rail Museum - Harbour Area:
  • Scale train models
  • Jiggers - motorized rail cars
  • Antique and Classic Cars and Vintage Motorcycle Display
  • Tugboat tours - meet and greet the captains and crew of the tugboats (each is at Captain's Discretion)
  • Tugboat sailpast parade in the harbour
  • Entertainment Tent:

    • 12:00 pm Dave and Trish Hawkins
    • 1:00 pm Lounge Lizards
    • 2:00 pm Tommy Gilham and the Gasoline Band

  • Museum tours - costumed interpreters on site
  • Caboose tour - meet a real conductor and hear the tales of the rail
  • Food on Site: Uncle Bill's Fresh Cut Fries: Hamburgers, Hot dogs, Sausage on a bun, fries; and more!
  • Heritage Bus Tours with interpreters: area covers historical dowtown Owen Sound between Marine & Rail Museum, Billy Bishop Home and Museum, Owen Sound Market and City Hall, past Salvation Corners, by the old Jail, to offer a glimpse into the City and its historical residents' pasts. Booklet with Then and Now photos and information on historical buildings and areas provided.
  Billy Bishop Home and Museum - A National Historic Site:
  • Military display from Land Forces Central Area Training Centre (weapon display, personnel, vehicles, etc.)
  • Kid's Corner with fabulous activities such as face painting, crafts, and much more
  • Children's Entertainment Tent:

    • 2:00 pm Jackie Ralph - Puppet Friends and Neighbours

  • Re-enactors dressed in 1812, WWI, WWII uniforms
